MARIA LAET: SUSTENTAÇÃO E ABISMO: OPEN COLLECTION

The series "Open Collection", by the Galeria Marília Razuk, presents the show Sustenance e Abyss, by Maria Laet. The exhibition brings together a group of works carried out since 2008, including an unprecedented series of drawings made with clay, last year. The selection also includes photographs, sculptures, videos, monotypes and engraving. In common, the works record or result from the artist's actions in which processes of formation and undoing of structures are confused.

Maria Laet was born in Rio de Janeiro in 1982, where she lives and works.

She is currently participating in the 37th Panorama of Brazilian Art at MAM-SP, entitled "Under the ashes, ember" and curated by Cauê Alves, Claudinei Roberto da Silva, Cristiana Tejo and Vanessa Davidson. Maria Laet has already participated in the 33rd Bienal de São Paulo, "Affective Affinities" (2018); the 18th Biennale of Sydney, "All Our Relations" (2012); and held the solo exhibition "Almost a nothing" (2019) at IAC Villeurbanne/ Rhône-Alpes, France.

Her work integrates collections such as MoMA, New York; Patricia Phelps de Cisneros Collection, New York and Caracas; MAM-Rio and Gilberto Chateaubriand, Rio de Janeiro; Museum of Contemporary Art of Niterói; 49 Nord 6 est – Frac Lorraine, Metz, France; and MSK, Gent, Belgium.
