INSTALATION BY RODRIGO BUENO
Galeria Marilia Razuk is pleased to announce Rodrigo Bueno’s new installation, from March 19 to April 30, 2016.
A Ferro e Fogo (Desdobramentos) is composed of iron bars from various dimensions with natural elements like roots, plants and woods. The work is a development of the series “Rebentos” first presented at Museu da CasaBrasileira (Sao Paulo) in 2014 – specially idealized for the gallery’s Room 2, a room used for site-specific and special projects.
The exhibition’s title refers to the way the artist works his raw material, cutting and welding used material collected in“ferro-velhos”, places where the material is abandoned, but also proposes possibilities against radicalisms inserted in this expression, (Taking things too seriously) a symbolic establishment founded in dance between art and design.
This means that the grids, originally used as hedging instruments and territory demarcation, have their first function subverted. "My work tells about urban memory through archaeological remains of the city itself. I’m telling the same story in another way, by inserting a reflection about it’s origin and the transmateriality of a myth.",says Bueno.
The natural elements characteristic of his work brings the“outside” to inside the gallery, in a context where the iron bars expand beyond it’s original form, as if nature were stronger than the architecture in which is contained.
Parallel to the show at the gallery, Rodrigo Bueno opens onMarch 20 at SESC Vila Mariana the group show Provocar Urbanos, with the installation Barravento – the violence that prior transformation, in which the dialog with the other exhibition is remarkable.
Born in Campinas in 1967, Rodrigo Bueno leads the workshop MataAdentro, a shed in Sao Paulo in the neighborhood of Lapa, where many creative process articulate recovering waste from the city and transforming them into environment, meetings, paintings and gardens that speak of the continuity of life.
